The Open Road

22 May 2009 (Indonesia) by Kendon Glass

As a metaphor for life its hard to beat the open road. Hes like a good old mate, sharing the hardships with the gold, leading you into the worlds heart centre, spreading joy around every bend with typical life affirming spontaneity. Over the years we have covered a lot of distance together, embracing the moment, at peace with the knowledge that the planet in all its beautiful simplicity will sustain every need.

Walt Whitman sums up things the best.

Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing,
Strong and content I travel the open road.

So in this spirit I plan to cycle Java, Indonesia, sail to Australia, and cycle down the Red Centre and onto the big smoke, looking out east for that great expanse of ocean.  Then its all sailing, carried by the Roaring Forties to New Zealand and beyond, down to the end of the world, Patagonia, the place where it all began, way back when.

I hope you can join me....
