Daniel Transcript from Video - Part 3

16 September 2003 (Venezuela) by Ben Glass

Daniel talking about the bilingual community:

"We made it an unwritten law that English must be spoken in this village. The reason why is because we lost our language and part of our culture through another tradition and now with our children speaking English permanently in the village and speaking Spanish on the outer road, streets and the schools and the market place we find ourselves being bilingual.

It creates a great advantage for ourselves and our community. Books can help us much more so we plead with you to send books that can help our children - history, science, maths, physics, geography. Let them know that the world where they live doesn't end at the boundary of the village but the world is a big world with history, and we need to know more of that."

If you are interested in sending books to the San Flaviano community
contact us on info@brinkx.org and we can put you in touch.
